At age 35, Gerardo Manrique has become a music producer, writer, arranger, composer and outstanding guitar player. In 1990 Mr. Manrique began his career as a guitar player, performing with Grammy winner Latin artist Gianmarco. In 1992 Mr. Manrique started producing several albums for well known Peruvian artists such Jessyca Sarango, Jorge Pardo, Amen, among others. During 1990 and 2000 Mr. Manrique produced the music for hundreds of TV commercials at “Audiopost Recording Studio”; which is one of the best studios in Lima -Peru .
Mr. Manrique became very popular in the music business at a very young age, not only for his incredible talent and creativity, but for his dedication and passion for the art of music as well. He quoted “Music...for me is the most honest expression of my soul”.
In 1997 produced artist Gianmarco's fifth album “AL QUINTO DIA” which reached the category of Platinum record for copies sold worldwide, also had the opportunity to record guitars for artist such as John Secada, Miami Sound Machine, Christian Castro, Jaci Velasquez, Jimena, to name a few at Crescent Moon Records; recording studio located in Coral Gables Miami-Florida, owned by world renowned executive producer Mr. Emilio Estefan.
In 2004 Mr. Manrique finished a production with his band “Destination Earth” and participated as a lead guitarist/singer. “Almost Home” which is one of the songs of the project, was accepted by NASA to contribute with the Family Assistance Fund and dedicated to the crew of the ill-fated Columbia space shuttle voyage.
In 2005 worked for three consecutive years at Nebulous Records as a producer/writer and worked with many artists in the electronic music field.
At the present time he is working at his own company Ombu Studios Inc. writing, producing, recording and engineering for many artists as well as finishing his own project to be released soon under Goin’ Native Records, a label dedicated to world music and working very closely with Glen Barclay who owns this label.
Mr. Manrique is also currently working with Grammy winner Michael Sembello who is mostly known for his work in the movie “Flashdance” as he wrote the famous song “Maniac” and performing live with Michael for his new project "Bossa Nova Hotel'.
